RIGAUD Consulate members from Chile will be visiting an outdoor art studio in Rigaud later this fall as part of an international outdoor art exhibition that will see works from South America, Africa and contemporary regional work put on display.
Organized by Albatique Gallery owner and artist Alejandro Senn, works from South America will be on display to the public next week in a unique outdoor studio.
Senn drifts between Spanish and French as he speaks about the artwork on display for public viewing on September 20.
The first in a series of three expositions, "Amérique du sud en couleur" will have the works of Chilean artists Alberto Beas, Tom Araya, Andres Aliaga and Santiago Panichini along with Argentinean works from Guillermo Gibbon and Silvia Vazz.
Works will also be on display by Panama's Luis Argumedes and Canadian artist Bertrand Lavoie, who infuses his work with Latin style.
Event organizer Alejandro Senn will also have his own surrealist urban landscapes on display along with portraits and other works from his collection.
Visitors to the studio will walk around a heavily wooded forest with paintings surrounding the property. Light trickles through the treetops and a central studio space exposed to the outdoors will include a number of pieces.
Traditional South American dishes and hors d'oeuvres will also be served.
Senn placed an emphasis on the professional nature of the exhibit, saying some of South America's finest contemporary artists will have their work on display next weekend.
Consulate representatives from Chile will attend a separate viewing of the work as the Chilean government provided Senn with funds to have the fragile artwork transported to Rigaud from South America.
An exhibition of contemporary regional artwork on Thanksgiving weekend will follow the South American exhibit. "Ouverture sur l'art contemporain d'ici" will put the works of regional artists on display.
Senn looked for artists in the region that have audacious and colourful artwork, and said a number of regional delicacies will be served during the exhibition in October.
The final exhibit in the series will take place in the summer of 2009. Titled "Afrique en mouvement," the exposition will place an emphasis on the continent's history, philosophy and religions.
As with the preceding exhibits, regional artists with African influence will also have their work on display and a variety of African dishes will be served.
